Why I write this
Mentoring didn't stop being useful just because I got promoted past needing it.
Knowledge shouldn't stay locked behind a title
I got to where I am because senior engineers and architects took the time to explain things that weren't written down anywhere — the reasoning behind a design, the failure mode a framework doesn't mention, the judgment call nobody puts in a slide deck. None of that came from a manual. It came from someone senior enough to know better, choosing to spend ten minutes explaining it instead of just fixing it themselves.
This section of the site is me writing down the same explanations I'd give a junior engineer or a new architect on my team — except in public, for whoever finds it useful. Publishing it doesn't cost me the advantage of knowing it. It just means fewer people have to learn it the expensive way.
What this actually is — and isn't
- Not a marketing blog. Nobody's trying to sell you a platform here, including me.
- Not vendor content. I'm not restating a product's documentation with better formatting.
- Not aggregated takes. Everything here is written from scratch, in my own words, from things I've actually built, argued about in a design review, or gotten wrong once.
- Opinionated on purpose. A framework diagram only earns its place if it tells you what to actually do — not just what exists.
Who it's for
- Engineers earlier in a security career who want the why, not just the checklist.
- Architects designing identity, AI governance, or GRC programs who want a second, opinionated take before committing to one.
- Anyone tired of compliance-flavored content that never once mentions what actually happens when the system gets attacked.
How new topics show up
Slowly, and only when I actually have something worth saying. Nothing here runs on a content calendar — a topic gets written when enough real experience has piled up behind it to make it worth someone else's time. That's also why some topics on theCybersecurity page are still marked "coming soon" — I'd rather ship nothing than pad this out with filler.
If any of this saves someone a bad afternoon, or a bad architecture decision made for the wrong reasons, that's the whole point.
